Using The Gym
Q: Do I need to book an induction?
A: If you're interested in using the gym, you should book a Gym Induction with an instructor before you start. We will take your blood pressure and ask some questions about your exercise and health history. Once your goals have been established, your instructor will write your fitness programme and take you through it step by step.
Q: How should I prepare for my induction?
A: Prior to your appointment please avoid - eating for 1 hour - smoking - drinking coffee/tea or cola for 2 hours - exercising or any form of physical activity - consuming alcohol on the day
Q: How can I lose weight?
A: All clubs offer Results Based Training and Personal Training packages. Come and chat to one of our trainers who will be happy to explain how they can help you achieve your goals with the minimum fuss and time.
Q: Why would I need a personal trainer?
A: Personal Training will help you to gain the maximum benefit from the time you spend exercising. Holmes Place personal trainers achieve the highest level of proficiency within the fitness industry and are trained to develop and supervise a training programme tailored to meet your specific goals whatever they may be. By providing you with guidance on technique, motivation, introduction to new exercises, stretching and analysis of your performance and progress, a personal trainer can provide an invaluable complement to your fitness regime. The full benefit of personal training is best attained through a series of sessions and is suited to every member regardless of age or ability.
Q: What results can I expect from using a personal trainer?
A: Below are just some of the benefits of Personal Training: - maximum results in minimum time - improved posture - sports-specific training - injury-related training - continual support and guidance - increased motivation and enjoyment of exercise
Q: Will I be charged if I miss a session with my trainer?
A: No, not if you cancel at least 24 hours before the session. Less than 24 hours and we charge for the session as it is likely that the instructor will have forgone other bookings.
Q: Does Holmes Place allow members to bring along their own personal trainers?
A: Holmes Place Health Clubs provide all members with the opportunity to use the professional services of our in-house personal trainers. These can be booked through reception at your health club. Unfortunately, it is not possible for members' own external personal trainers to accompany them in the health clubs.
