In this interview, the Hollywood star talks about well-being, work, aging and acceptance. Cameron Diaz, in her late 30s, is often asked by journalists whether she isn't afraid of turning 40. You can find out your answer here.

”I am often asked: Are you not afraid of the end of your career now that you no longer look 25?“Instead of fighting the inevitable, the actress is trying to focus on what we can expect as we get older and how we can live better, stronger and healthier as we age.

”Why are you so afraid of getting older? I feel better than I've ever felt before.“says Diaz,”And not just physically. I also feel different mentally as a person.”

It's about changing your priorities. ”I'm not trying to have the prettiest body in Hollywood. I work to maintain my wellbeing and healthy lifestyle and that makes me happy, that is my priority in life. That is important to me. When you get older, or at a certain point in your life, the only way to be successful is through the things you learn and that you get, and not the things you have to give up.” Diaz explains.

In contrast to other actresses who complain about how few good roles there are for older women in Hollywood, Diaz sees things differently. In an interview, she explains:”The most interesting roles are for women over 40. Of course, we don't see it that way because these are not the sexiest female roles. Take a look at the Oscar nominations from the last 10 years. We don't give these women enough credit for what they do with their wonderful performances.”

In the figure-focused movie industry, Diaz has, she admits, tried out all sorts of age-fighting makeup combinations. ”I've visited a handful of dermatologists to try out anti-aging methods such as creams, laser treatments, Botox and fillings, all just to keep my youthful appearance and beauty. Believe me, I know what it's like to look at yourself in the mirror and see this as a measure of how “well” you're aging. But don't be fooled — just because you might look younger than your girlfriend doesn't mean that your body isn't worn out in some way after all. Ageing is a process and each of us must have our own individual experience with it.”

So what needs to change?

”Let's push the midlife crisis off the bridge and throw a party for ourselves instead. Let's celebrate the things we've experienced so far and the things we still have ahead of us.“Being happy and living a healthy lifestyle is paramount to Diaz and your personal life is definitely the most important thing to her,”Marriage to my husband is the most loving and meaningful relationship I've ever had. He is one of the pillars of my wellbeing and I am happy that we can build our lives together.” she explains brilliantly in an interview.

”I think getting older is a privilege. Not everyone has that privilege. I've lost a lot of friends who had to die in their 20s or 30s. We see aging as a negative thing, but if we get that far, we should consider ourselves lucky. We'll live as long as we can. I could live a long time, but I don't just want to “just” be alive. I want to maintain my healthy lifestyle and spend the next half of my life in a healthy body with a healthy mind and soul.”

What plans does Cameron Diaz have for her 40s and 50s?

”I don't know if I'll still work as an actress. I can't predict what's going to happen, but I haven't given up acting yet.” she admits. ”It wasn't that long ago that I was able to go without a workout for a few days. Although this fitness break had an effect on my energy and mood, my body remained robust. I only had to train a few times to get back to my old form and regain that feeling of strength. But now it seems to me that it is becoming more and more difficult to return to the old form“, says Diaz thoughtfully in an interview.

However, she demonstrates what she preaches: daily transcendental meditation, regular exercise, healthy eating and lots of laughter and relaxation. ”If I don't sleep well, if I miss my breakfast, or eat something that looked rich and delicious on the menu and then I realize it was too rich and too delicious, or if I skip my workout because I have many more important meetings instead — that's when I suffer from many more important meetings instead. I think we'd all be happier and feel better and we could breathe a sigh of relief when we asked, “How old are you? “could answer with the truth. Without fear. Without hesitation. Without shame.”
