Dietary supplements are products that are intended to supplement the diet. They can consist of synthetic or natural substances and a range of vitamins and minerals, or even contain only very specific substances. It is important that your recording is customized, taking into account your individual needs.

For those who strive for a healthy lifestyle, we should consider the following important components:

sleep

A good night's sleep is better than any medicine or supplement.

Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder in adults and has significant consequences, e.g. cardiovascular diseases are leading to more and more deaths, psychiatric disorders (e.g. depression), accidents and absences from work are increasing.

It is helpful to avoid substances that worsen insomnia, such as caffeine, tobacco, and other stimulants. The effect of these substances lasts up to 8 hours.

stress

Our nervous and hormonal systems have evolved to increase the release of neurotransmitters and hormones in rare or acute stressful situations (e.g. in need), but it is not optimized for seemingly frequent or chronic stressful situations (e.g. getting stuck in traffic stress, work stress, or simply having repetitive negative thoughts).

Although it is not the main cause of heart problems, chronic stress can help trigger or worsen them as it increases blood pressure, makes healing more difficult and makes us more vulnerable to external pathogenic attacks.

In order to maintain a healthy body in the long term, it is essential to find a way to deal with stress, for example with the help of exercise, yoga or meditation.

Social contacts

People are social beings. Modern life generally doesn't meet our needs for socialization.

Social isolation has the ability to influence hormonal regulation and the balance of metabolic systems and thus increases the risk of chronic diseases such as depression, heart disease or diabetes.

In addition to adherence to a diet that contains few ultra-processed foods (a healthy diet should be rich and varied, avoid fast food and snacks even if a strict diet is not followed) and adequate physical activity each day, largely contribute to a healthy lifestyle without the need for dietary supplements.

It's important to remember that most drugs are developed from natural products and are sufficiently studied and controlled to be safe, which is not necessarily the case with all supplements. Note that taking supplements without supervision from a healthcare professional can lead to serious consequences due to interactions with drug therapies. However, not all supplements have health benefits and even negative events can result from taking them.

Our food should be the most important source of energy intake and nutrients necessary to ensure our health and physical performance.

However, there may be situations where food alone cannot guarantee this offer. In such cases, supplementation can help close the deficit. Bottom line: These products don't replace food. They are intended to provide nutrients that may be missing from the diet.
