CAN A MASSAGE HELP ME TO LOSE WEIGHT?
Yes! Getting regular massage will help you keep your muscles healthy and toned. When you work out or do any kind of sport regularly, you basically train your muscles to be more and more contracted and compact. If you do not take moments to also relax and release pressure in the muscles through massage, workouts can lead to pain and injuries. If your muscles are healthy, you will improve your performance and make sure that your body can recover quickly in case of injury.
Massage helps to maintain and support your well-being, but it does in preventing injury. When you get a good deep tissue or sports massage, it will reach deep levels in your muscles, and help release the toxins that build up in the body through training. Your body will then be stimulated to eliminate these and excess liquids/ toxins and fat can more easily be gotten rid of. In this way, massage, when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, can help you achieve weight loss.
Try 3 types of massage that I would recommend. The list is in the order of priority:
- Osteopathy for skeletal problems - you may have back pains or other somatic problems that require professional attention in order to be healed.
- Deep Tissue massage - for muscle aches and as a preventive measure: when you work out regularly the muscles get tight and need deep work.
- Thai Massage - for maintaining and increasing flexibility and detoxifying the muscles.
However, there are also a few other ways to increase your fitness level during a period of weight loss:
1. stretching regularly
2. swimming
3. work with "trigger-point" rollers and massage balls.
I believe that you may also want to consider acupuncture as an excellent form of pain relief and relaxation or cranial osteopathy in order to rebalance your energy and heal more chronic symptoms through a gentler approach.
