Everyone worries or has to deal with anxiety over and over again. People usually worry about money, health, work, relationships or family. Anxiety manifests itself in a variety of ways and has negative effects on our lives — not to mention our bodies.
Some of us may be able to deal with our anxiety quite well and have already learned anti-stress strategies. However, if you're still suffering from rapid heartbeats and sleep problems, and you're constantly bothered by things that aren't really important - then you haven't tried all the strategies yet!
The following are effective tips from our trained experts to help you beat your anxiety and live a happier, healthier life — from mind-body techniques to calming teas. The more you dedicate yourself to these strategies, the better you'll feel.
1. Take a deep breath
Deep breathing is one of the best strategies to make feelings such as anxiety, anxiety, panic, or dread disappear from your body — and it's also one of the easiest. Anxiety is always accompanied by superficial breathing, so the next time you feel anxiety, slow your breathing and practice the following exercise (which is also great for overall relaxation):
• Sit in a chair and keep your back straight with your arms on the armrest.
• Breathe deeply and slowly through your nose for 5 to 6 seconds, drawing in your stomach.
• Hold this breath for a few seconds, then exhale slowly through your mouth, relaxing your stomach. This should take approximately 7 seconds.
• Repeat this process ten times and you will feel much calmer with every inhale and exhale.
2. Exercise daily
Anything from a quick 10-minute walk to a full hour of Zumba workout can massively reduce your anxiety. It also liberates the mind and releases endorphins. Studies have shown that regular aerobic exercise reduces tension, improves mood, improves sleep and increases self-confidence. The next time you feel stressed, rush to the gym or practice a bit of yoga — your body, mind, and mind will thank you for it.
3. Clearing out helps
Chaos promotes stress. When we are surrounded by clutter at home or at work, our mind is also confused, and this has a number of effects: We can't find our car keys, arrive late for work, and our brain sends us signals that we won't be able to finish our work on time. Take charge of your mental cleanup tasks and feel better and more relaxed day by day. Proceed step by step — if you find an item that you never use, don't really want or need — then there is only one thing that helps: throw it away, recycle or donate!
4. Get a healthy night's sleep
Anxiety and sleep (or sleep deprivation) go hand in hand. Suddenly, you find yourself in a vicious cycle of insomnia and anxiety: The more afraid you are of not being able to fall asleep, the less you sleep. The less you sleep, the more you worry. However, your body needs rest and relaxation precisely when you are stressed. Stick to a strict schedule, always go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time in the morning - and important: You should refrain from using electronic devices at least an hour before you fall asleep! Also avoid drinking alcohol or caffeinated drinks. However, what you can drink before going to bed is chamomile tea - it calms your nervous system and alleviates symptoms of anxiety.
