Many of us have less than happy memories of school gym lessons. Unfortunately, we often take them with us into adulthood, which can lead to nervousness in the fitness room.
Our modern and inviting facilities are designed not to be the case with Holmes Place. With a wide range of top-notch fitness equipment, workout rooms and personal training, you'll never be bored. What areas are available in a gym varies from club to club, but here are the basics:
This is the easiest place to start. You're probably at your best with gym equipment like Treadmills and elliptical machines familiar. That is great. Both are extremely reliable basic devices that you can simply switch on, adjust and get started. If you're just starting out, our top-notch equipment is a fun and easy way to get started with cardio.
Combat ropes, medicine balls, kettle bells, power plates, kinesis stations — in this area, exercisers sweat. But that's nothing new. Functional fitness is the body's natural form of movement — pushing, pulling, lifting, squats and climbing. The sole purpose is to make your body stronger, more flexible, more stable, and more agile. Ask a personal trainerto show you how to use functional devices — you'll love it if you know how to use them.
Basic training tools in this area include dumbbells, barbells, benches, power racks, and press stations. When you join a Holmes Place club, we incorporate the number of sets and reps you need into your personal plan (if that area is required to achieve your goals). Using a “spotter” (someone who safely helps you lift weights) can help prevent injuries in this area and motivate you to reach your maximum potential.
If you're wondering what areas are available in a gym that aren't based on cardiovascular or weight training, the stretching section is the answer. It's a wonderful place for those who want to work on their core and flexibility, with mats for stretching and yoga. You'll find that most members of the gym go to this area at the start and end of their workout—use it to warm up and cool down to prevent injuries.
Familiarize yourself with the areas available in a gym and you'll quickly get rid of the weird feeling of not knowing where to go or what to do. When you join a Holmes Place club, you get a plan tailored just for you from one of our experienced personal trainers who will be happy to go over everything with you and make sure you enjoy achieving your goals.
Of course, there is much more to our clubs than just the fitness area: from the pool and spa to our studios and Xpress courses We will provide you with all-round support.
