Happiness: Why it's the small things
Be thankful for what you have and you'll end up with more. If you focus on what you don't have, you'll never have enough. Oprah Winfrey

Kind words. Weekend swimming. Frothy coffee. Smile
Just stopping to appreciate these micro-moments — which express joy — can affect our brains and bodies in the most powerful way.
Physically, this can lower our blood pressure and help us live longer. Mentally, teaching us to celebrate the present moment can help dispel stress and self-doubt.
It is time to accept happiness, and to do so with open arms.
Happiness makes us stronger. It helps us live longer and with all our hearts. It is our secret weapon against stress — our inner strength that can help us overcome any obstacles life throws at us. Yes... even on Monday mornings.
We all know how important our happiness is, but sometimes it feels like an uphill battle to achieve it. Sometimes we need a little push or a reminder of how important it is—and how we can bring more light into our lives:
Buddhists describe thoughts as drops of water on the brain. When the same idea is repeated over and over again, a free-flowing stream is created in the mind. Practicing gratefulness—a state of gratefulness—produces new positive streams that reduce anxiety and depression and make you happier.
Gratitude has been shown to literally change your brain's chemistry—appreciating the little things triggers our “good” hormones, releases toxic emotions, reduces pain, and improves sleep.
When life moves at 100 miles per hour, mindfulness can take a back seat. But meditation is something you can do in just a few minutes: in the shower, first thing in the morning, before eating. You can also practice gratitude throughout the day.
If there's one thing we know about you, it's that you want to improve your physical fitness without it feeling like a chore.
If you feel that way, then you're definitely on our wavelength. Exercise shouldn't feel like a chore. Eating shouldn't feel like a chore. Happiness is your human right.
Taking care of yourself — whether by showing up to a normal fitness class or taking the time to cook a nutritious meal — is the ultimate form of self-care. But with so much pressure to achieve the “perfect body” exerted by media and diet products, the true purpose of health and fitness can take a back seat and confuse us.
Even in 2020, the strongest cause of unhappiness among women is still their appearance. Brene Brown addresses this topic in her book “Daring Greatly”:
“After all the deliberate and critical confrontations, we are still most ashamed of not being thin, young and beautiful enough.”
