Nutrition is a very complex issue. In the end, we all know that achieving our health and fitness goals depends on the right balance of exercise and calorie intake, and that eating healthy doesn't mean eating only fruits and vegetables. But how often and how much can you sin? It is not always easy to recognize what is still being enjoyed and when it simply becomes too much and causes you to gain weight. But it is absolutely possible to eat everything you like without necessarily gaining weight — you just need to know how. If you take a cheat day after every diet day, you're likely not going to achieve your goals. Having a cheat day once a week (we don't mean unbridled feasting though) can even help you stick to your health and fitness goals in the long term.
Healthy eating is based on balance and moderation — not on deprivation. Strict dieting is simply not sustainable, so we'll give you a few tips and tricks on how you can enjoy and still stay slim. Losing weight made easy!
Treat yourself to two treats a week that will really make your mouth water. Whether it's a scoop of your favorite ice cream, or a hot dog with fried onions — the secret lies in really eating and enjoying consciously. Pay attention to the smell, consistency, and taste. Indulge in approximately 300 calories of the treat that you won't want to miss out on. If you really eat consciously, you'll appreciate every bite and won't even be tempted to overdo it.
When we don't get enough sleep, we feel like eating high-calorie snacks. That's why getting enough and good sleep is one of the most important (and most frequently ignored) factors when it comes to getting fit and getting in shape. To get used to a healthy sleep pattern, put away all electronic devices at least half an hour before bed and try to fall asleep at the same time each evening.
Many people just work out so they can eat more of the foods they love without gaining weight. Burning enough calories may prevent you from gaining weight, but be careful not to eat “cheat” foods or foods immediately after the workout. After a workout, you should provide your body with nutrients that repair muscle tissue and replenish your glycogen stores. To do this, snack smartly: protein shakes, peanut butter and bananas on rice cakes, lean turkey with sliced apple. By making smart dietary choices after a workout, you prevent food cravings.
You're invited to a party. You drink a few glasses of wine, try your way through the whole buffet and pop a pizza in the oven as soon as you get home. There will be nights like this, but don't let them discourage you. Don't let a “everything doesn't matter now” attitude take hold. You haven't lost your way, you've just had an unplanned cheat evening — so don't plan any more for the rest of the week and you're back to your regular diet and diet plan.
Do you love pizza? By making pizza dough from cauliflower, you cut the calories in half and you won't have to miss out on your favorite meal. Can't resist brownies? Instead of tons of sugar and artificial additives, this recipe uses sweet potatoes, maple syrup and cocoa powder. There are countless ways to make your favorite dishes and desserts healthier. Simply add fruit and vegetables and use natural sweeteners. A healthy diet can be so delicious!
